The 4G variant of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC is coming

He revealed this information via Twitter, in addition to some additional info regarding Qualcomm’s chips. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ 5G is also coming, though we already knew that. That chip will be manufactured by TSMC, and offer better thermals than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G. He also mentioned the Snapdragon 888, but in a 4G variant. The Snapdragon 888 5G is Qualcomm’s last-gen flagship processor that we’re quite familiar with. That is basically everything that the tipster shared. We do know that Huawei is already using the 4G Snapdragon 888 SoC. That is possibly Huawei’s very own combination of components, as it probably uses the 5G variant of the chip but without 5G due to US sanctions. We’re not entirely sure. It seems like the 4G variant of that processor is not yet available, officially. We didn’t see an announcement thus far, and the tipster obviously suggests that it’s coming soon.

5G only Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ variant will also launch soon

The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will support 5G, that much we expected. We’re still not sure when that chip will launch, but it is expected to fuel quite a few devices in the second half of the year. So, it will hopefully launch in the near future. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 4G may also be useful in some instances. Perhaps Huawei will grab it for its smartphones. 5G is still not that important in many parts of the world, especially those that have great 4G connectivity. Not to mention that 5G coverage is not that great in many regions. Stay tuned for more information, as we’ll probably hear more about these Snapdragon chips really soon.
