Pixel phones already have a great text / image sharing / saving feature

Those of you who use Pixel phones probably know of its great select-all feature. What are we talking about? Well, on Pixels, with Android 11, you can basically go to the overview / app switcher screen, and select any object from a specific app. So, if an app doesn’t allow you to copy / share some text, or an image, Pixel phones basically force that for you. You can even save an image from a GIF, for example. Let’s take Instagram for example, as that app doesn’t allow you to save / share images. You can open Instagram, navigate to the app switcher, and simply tap the ‘Select’ option. Following that, you’ll be able to select whatever you want, and copy it, save it, etc.

Android 12 app switcher is getting supercharged with quick image sharing

Well, Android 12 Beta 4 makes that even simpler. Android 12 will recognize an image ahead of time. If you take a look at the image below, courtesy of Android Police, you’ll be able to see it in action. There’s that icon in the bottom-left corner of the shown image.

Once you tap that icon, and the image will pop out and expand. You’ll get your copy, share, and save options, and also a row of direct share options at the very bottom of the display. As shown in the image below.

You can even open the share sheet, if you want

Alternatively, you can tap the ‘More’ option, which will open the share sheet. Now, that row of direct share options isn’t all that useful, as its suggestions are a bit off. We’re still waiting for Android to allow us to customize those share sheets the way we want, that would make a huge impact on sharing. In any case, this is a truly welcomed feature, that’s for sure, and it will make sharing images and text a breeze. Considering it popped up in the fourth Beta build, chances are we’ll see it in the stable build as well.
