As of this writing, the stable Android 13 update is only available to the unlocked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra units enrolled in Samsung’s One UI 5.0 beta program stateside (via). But the company should soon expand the rollout to cover the rest unlocked units as well as the carrier-locked variants. It has been rather quick with software updates in recent years. As always, the update will roll out in batches. Samsung will initially cover all beta users and gradually release the update to more users. Once available for your Galaxy Note 20 unit, you will get a notification prompting you to download the update. You can also go to the Software update menu in the Settings app and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually. The stable Android 13 update for Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users in the beta program will not be a too big download over the air (OTA). But for those making the jump from Android 12, it will be a huge OTA package possibly weighing more than 2GB. If you’re on a limited mobile data plan, we recommend connecting your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the update.
Android 13 brings several new features to the Galaxy Note 20 series
Android 13 is the last major Android OS update for the Galaxy Note 20 series. It brings tons of new features, enhancements, and changes to the last Note-branded Samsung smartphones. Starting with aesthetic changes, the Korean firm has made app icons bolder and improved system animations. The Color Palette feature now lets you better apply wallpaper colors to system UI elements. Samsung has also made it easier to customize your phone and added new customization options. There are new gestures as well. One UI 5.0 further brings new photo and video editing tools. The camera app itself now offers new features. Other stock Samsung apps such as Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard Bixby Routines, Gallery, and more also get new features and improvements to add to your user experience. Other highlights include optical character recognition for extracting text from images, a separated Connected Devices menu in the Settings app, per-app language settings, and improved privacy, security, and accessibility features.
