This sounds surprising, but honestly, it really isn’t. Apple has already launched its Apple TV app and Apple TV+ streaming service on Google TV, so this is the next step for Apple to reach even more users. This news comes from ShrimpApplePro on Twitter, who stated that the company is currently internally beta testing the Apple TV app on Android. And that the Apple Music app for Android will be getting updated too.

This marks a big change we’ve seen with Apple lately

Google and Microsoft were first to really bring their apps and services onto other platforms, mainly iOS. And now, it looks like Apple is also changing course to do the same thing. When Apple Music launched, it also launched on Android. So that Apple could get Android users on-board with its streaming service too. We’ve also seen AirPlay, iTunes and now Apple TV launching on other TV sets other than the Apple TV hardware that Apple sells. And now it looks like Android is the next play. It’s a big deal for Apple, as there are quite a few people that don’t own any Apple products, but still might want to use Apple TV or even Apple TV+. Now would Apple TV become a big time app on Android? Likely not. It would likely only be a big app on Android for those that use Apple and other products like an Android phone or a Chromebook. This is a new Apple. An Apple where it actually cares about users that use more than just Apple products. Now that is surprising. But it’s also Apple looking to grow its service revenue. Bringing Apple TV to Android means bringing Apple TV+ to Android.
