The August security update for the Galaxy Note 10 duo in the US comes with firmware version N97USQS7HVH1 for the carrier-locked units and N97U1UES7HVH1 for the unlocked ones. The OTA (over the air) rollout is already available to users on most carrier networks, including T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, Xfinity Mobile, and Bluegrass Cellular. The official changelog for this update doesn’t mention anything apart from the latest vulnerability fixes. While Samsung often hides information in changelogs, this one is likely telling the full story. The Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ are unlikely to get feature updates anymore. They debuted with Android 9 Pie in August 2019 and have received updates to Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12 over the past three years. The phones will not receive Android 13. Going forward, the duo will only get security updates from Samsung, at least for one more year. The frequency of these updates may also come down starting next month when the Galaxy Note 10 series enters the fourth year of its life. The Korean company recently redrafted its software policy to offer four major Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. But that only applies to newer flagships and select Galaxy A series mid-rangers.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 phones get the August security update in The US

While there may not be any new features to talk about, the latest update for the Galaxy Note 10 series contains plenty of vulnerability fixes. According to Samsung’s monthly security bulletin, the August SMR patches more than 60 issues found. About half of those were Android OS flaws patched by Google. The Android maker got rid of one critical issue that enabled anyone to remotely execute code on affected devices over Bluetooth. Additionally, Samsung patched about 30 vulnerabilities exclusive to its Android devices. These issues don’t affect Android products from other brands. Affected components include Samsung DeX, Knox VPN, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Dialer, and others. If you’re using either the Galaxy Note 10 or the Note 10+ in the US, these fixes are now headed your way. Watch out for notification about the OTA rollout in the coming days. You may also manually check for updates from the Settings app.
