The image that we have attached below was posted on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo by Chen Jin, the general manager of the Lenovo Mobile Group in China (Lenovo owns the Motorola smartphone brand). It appears fairly vibrant with plenty of details. However, since the photo was uploaded to a public platform, the quality may have been reduced due to compression. So we can’t draw a fair conclusion regarding the actual picture quality that the Motorola X30 Pro will offer. Going by the original photo’s resolution (6,144 x 8,192 pixels), the sample is a 50MP image. The ISOCELL HP1 can capture 16,384 x 12,288 resolution images with its full 200 million 0.64μm pixels. But you can use pixel binning to increase light absorption in low-light conditions. As such, you will get lower resolution outputs. 4-in-1 pixel binning (1.28μm-sized pixels) will give you 50MP shots while 16-in-1 pixel binning (2.56μm-sized pixels) results in 12.5MP stills. The ISOCELL HP1 is the only 200MP smartphone camera available today. Samsung recently announced the second-gen version, ISOCELL HP3, but it’s currently in the sampling stage. The company plans to begin mass production later this year. The new sensor boasts the industry’s smallest pixels yet (0.56μm) and comes with improved autofocus. Not much else changes, though. Bot sensors can record 8K videos at 30fps (frames per second). You can also use 4-in-1 pixel binning for videos. It’s not a long wait now before people can take the world’s first 200MP camera for a spin. The Motorola X30 Pro is arriving soon.
