In case you didn’t know

On July 8th, Elon Musk filed a document that would cancel the deal to purchase the social media platform. Twitter didn’t take kindly to this, as it promptly filed a lawsuit that would force the deal to go through. This means that Musk would be forced to buy the company. This deal was troubled from the start, but no one could have foreseen this. Twitter enlisted the help of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, a pretty well-known law firm. However, Elon also employed a tough law firm for his side. He’s using Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.

Elon wants to push the Twitter trial to next year

Right now, we’re all waiting for the legal smackdown to begin; however, it appears that we’ll be waiting a little longer. Twitter originally wanted a four-day trial to happen sometime in September. As a response, Elon’s lawyers called for the trial to be pushed to February 2023. That’s a six-month delay, and most people would have forgotten about the trial by then. His lawyers stated that having the trial this September is an attempt for Twitter “to shroud the truth about spam accounts long enough to railroad defendants into the closing”. As you can tell, the spam accounts will be a large part of Elon’s defense when the trial comes. The spam accounts have been a major thorn in Elon’s side, and Twitter has yet to properly disclose just how many spam accounts there are on the platform. It caused the deal to go on hold previously. Now, it appears that Twitter will have to disclose that number when the trial finally happens. Right now, we don’t know if Twitter accepted Elon’s proposal to move the trial to next February. We should find out soon as more of this story unfolds.
