ASUS has been making premium phones for a while now. They have also cornered the gaming smartphone arena with previous versions of the ROG phone leading the way. With manufacturers such as Nibua and Lenovo also gaining ground on the gaming smartphone market, ASUS will need to keep innovating. Both phones are almost identical except for one thing: one phone has a curved screen on front, while the other is flat. Here is everything you need to know about the ASUS ROG Phone 6 and ASUS ZenFone 9.

Early Indications Could Suggest a Bigger Camera on the ROG

While the launch is a couple of months away, there are images and sketches that are supposed to present what the final products will be. Long-term users of ASUS phones will be excited by what is being interpreted by the images. These include the apparent addition of a bigger secondary display for the ROG as well as a larger camera island with three cameras. It is expected that the cameras will include a 64MP main camera with an ultrawide and telephoto as well. Early design leaks indicate these cameras will be located in a horizontal line at the top of the phone. As a gaming phone, refresh rate is all-important With the Asus ROG 6, refresh rates up to 165Hz are now achievable. This is a major upgrade from the previous 144Hz refresh rates. With a refresh rate of 165Hz, you can display at least twice as many frames per second with this phone than the 256 FPS of its predecessor. This is important for fast-paced games that require multiple frame updates to display smooth movement. As a flagship device, it would be wise to have the latest refresh rate, but there are no details about that at the moment. Asus has also included a “Super Cooler Boost” in the ROG 6, which increases performance levels by up to 30% and increases gaming stability, without sacrificing battery life. The Super Cooler Boost is capable of constant operation at an average temperature of -20 degrees Celsius.

ASUS ZenFone 9 Could Have a Responsive Back

The ASUS ZenFone 9 looks promising to some, with a battery that is increased by 30% and a tappable back. The unique feature is the ability to switch between two different profiles through the app. This includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. A tap or two on the back panel could trigger a variety of functions from taking a screenshot to opening the camera app. This feature could become a useful addition, especially if it can be configured to do whatever the user wants. If you’re someone who likes to take a lot of pictures and needs a high-quality camera for it, the ASUS ZenFone 9 could be just what you’re looking for. With the camera on this phone being able to take photos at 50MP main camera plus a 12MP ultrawide, this is something that would be worth investing in. The early designs show the two cameras one beneath the other on the left side. However, there doesn’t appear to be a raised area like the Samsung phones. Unlike the ASUS ROG, the ZenFone won’t get the highest refresh rate, but it should still have an impressive 120Hz. In terms of RAM, you will likely get around 16GB which will be plenty for this phone. You could also get stereo speakers as ASUS usually offer good audio.

Latest Android Software

As you might expect for a flagship phone, the ASUS ROG and ZenFone should ship with the latest Android 12 software. They should also have enough specifications to last for quite a few updates and Android versions.

Final Thoughts

That was everything you need to know about the ASUS ROG Phone 6 and ASUS ZenFone 9. Although none of these features are set in stone at the moment, there is plenty to be excited about if the rumours are true. It seems that ASUS are trying to corner their own corner of the smartphone market, and retain their place as king of the gaming mobile manufacturers.
