As of this writing, the October security update for the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ is available in only one European country: Switzerland. Both 4G LTE and 5G variants are picking up the new SMR in the region, with the updated firmware version being N97**XXS8HVJ1. Samsung should expand the rollout to other European markets in the coming days, followed by a global rollout, including in the US. The latest SMR for the Galaxy A53 5G, meanwhile, is already rolling out widely in Europe. Users in pretty much all European countries should be able to download the update over the air (OTA). The new firmware version for this premium mid-ranger in the region is A536BXXS4AVJ1. Over the next few days, this phone should be getting the October security patch in other regions too. Samsung did release the Galaxy A53 5G in the US, and users stateside can also look forward to this update. None of these Galaxy smartphones are getting any user-facing changes with the latest update. Samsung is only pushing the vulnerability fixes that are part of the October SMR. It has already been revealed that the new security patch addresses over 50 vulnerabilities on its phones. More than 30 of those were Android OS issues and were duly patched by Google. The Korean firm itself patched 18 Galaxy-specific vulnerabilities including a critical flaw that allowed a threat actor to gain unauthorized access to secure memory. If you’re using the Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10+, or Galaxy A53 5G, the latest security update is on your way. You should receive a notification prompting you to download the OTA package soon. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app.

The Galaxy Note 10 series will not get the Android 13 update

Samsung is readying its One UI 5 custom software based on Android 13. It will begin the rollout later this month. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Note 10 duo will not get it. The phones arrived in 2019 running Android 9 Pie out of the box. They have received the promised three major Android OS updates — Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12. The Galaxy A53 5G, meanwhile, debuted earlier this year with Android 12 onboard and will get Android 13. Samsung has promised four major Android OS updates for this phone. So it will get updates until Android 16 in 2025. We will let you know when it picks up the Android 13-based One UI 5 update.
