The Galaxy S22 Ultra will stick with a 108MP camera, no 200MP unit in sight
According to a new report, Samsung is not planning any major camera changes for the Galaxy S22 series. It seems like the company will stick with a 108MP unit on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. That camera will be backed by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide unit, both of which will support OIS. In regards to the Galaxy S22 and S22+, both will include a triple camera setup. 3x optical zoom will also be included, while a 10-megapixel selfie camera is expected. The source once again reiterates that mass production will start in November, and that the devices will become official in January. That means they’ll arrive exactly one year after the S21, as that series got announced in January 2021. Having said that, this will disappoint some people, even though it’s not surprising. The Galaxy S22 design (including its internals) has likely been finalized for some time. The company is probably doing some final adjustments to the cameras.
Samsung obviously needs more time to implement that 200MP camera sensor
Samsung will clearly need more time to implement its new 200MP camera sensor into one of its smartphones. It may arrive with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which is unlikely, but the S23 may offer it. We’ll have to wait and see. Do note that Xiaomi is also rumored to have plans for that 200MP camera sensor. Following such rumors, many people assumed that one of the Xiaomi 13 handsets will feature it. Well, that is possible, but that would mean Samsung wouldn’t be the first to utilize it. That also doesn’t seem as likely, but we cannot say anything for sure. Based on its specs, the ISOCELL HP1 camera sensor has great potential, especially for low light. We’re looking forward to seeing it in action, whoever ends up using it first.
