The Pixel 7 Pro on the other hand will come with more bells and whistles. And is the one you want to go for if you want a more powerful device, that also comes with a better camera setup and more camera features. Specifically, the Pro model this year comes with some nifty camera upgrades like the 5x optical zoom, the macro focus, and 30x super resolution zoom. The sensors are still the same megapixel count across the board. But there are new features that make use of them. The non-Pro model comes with the same 50mp and 12mp main and ultrawide sensors, but it drops the telephoto lens, optical zoom, macro focus, and 30x super resolution zoom. It does have an 8x digital zoom though. Overall users should expect some great pictures from both. As Pixel phones always tend to deliver in this area.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro come with brighter displays

In addition to the camera upgrades, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro also come with brighter, more enhanced displays. The Pixel 7 features a 6.32-inch FHD+ display with a peak brightness of 1400 nits, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 7 Pro steps things up a bit with a 6.7-inch WQHD+ display with a slightly higher peak brightness of 1400 nits, and a smoother 120Hz refresh rate. These displays are seemingly mostly unchanged from last year’s devices. For example, the Pixel 6 Pro also came with a WQHD+ display almost the exact same size and with the same refresh rate. The Pixel 6 had a slightly larger display than the Pixel 7, but resolution and refresh rate were the same there too. What Google has upgraded here is the brightness. So if the screens on last year’s phones weren’t quite bright enough for you, that should be a nice change this time around.

Pre-orders start today

Like with past devices, Google will let consumers begin to pre-order the phones starting today, following the event. The Pixel 7 is available starting at $599 and the Pixel 7 Pro is available starting at $899. That’s a steep jump but it does come with some significantly better specs. The Pixel 7 will come with a 4,355mAh battery, 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, the Google Tensor G2 chip, and Android 13. For the Pixel 7 Pro, Google is upping the battery to 5,000mAh, and RAM goes up to 12GB while the storage stays the same. It also comes with the G2 Tensor chip and Android 13 out of the box.
