DND mode is extremely useful if you tend to get a bunch of notifications. They can be a distraction if you are trying to work or stay focused on a specific project. This is why it’s such a sought-after feature. Soon, Google Chat will actually let you schedule DND mode. It already lets you set custom durations for DND mode, and that’s really useful. The only thing is that you have to go in and set the duration manually. It’s not as useful if you want a recurring schedule. This is why being able to schedule DND mode will be a welcome addition. As the feature’s name implies, you’ll be able to set up a recurring schedule for DND mode to start and stop. Say, you want it to turn on over the weekend to avoid annoying business messages, you can do that. Or, you can set DND mode to activate when you are off from work and deactivate once you hit the office.
How to schedule DND mode in Google Chat
When the feature doesn’t land on your account, it’ll be pretty easy to set up. Go to your status indicator (the button that shows you if you’re active or inactive) and click the Do Not Disturb mode option. When you do that, you’ll see a drop-down that gives you some duration options. At the very bottom, you should see a button that says “Set a do not disturb schedule”. From that point, you can go and choose the days and times that you want DND mode to activate and deactivate. What’s neat about this feature is that you can set multiple schedules. Just note that, if you don’t see the feature right away, that means it’s still rolling out. Google is rolling out this feature over the next couple of weeks, so it’s very possible that you won’t see it for a while. When the feature launches, it will be available for all Google Workspace and Legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers.
