Unfortunately, the tipster couldn’t offer additional information on the Pixel Buds Pro, so there’s still a whole lot that we don’t know. The ‘Pro’ moniker suggests that it will be a top-of-the-line audio accessory. This suggests that active noise cancellation or ANC could finally make its way to Google’s flagship earbuds. Surprisingly, this appears to be one of the first Pixel Buds Pro leaks. But with the secret now officially out, it’s likely that we’ll learn more about it over the coming weeks. Pricing and availability information is expectedly unavailable. But we’re hoping Google will shed more light on the Pixel Buds Pro at I/O 2022 next week.
The Pixel Buds Pro could leverage some of Android 13’s new features
As per industry expert Mishaal Rahman, the arrival of the Pixel Buds Pro aligns with the changes witnessed in Android 13. The upcoming software includes support for Bluetooth LE (low-energy) Audio. Google is also working on features like head-tracking and spatial audio within Android 13. Considering that the Pixel Buds Pro would cater to the premium segment, we expect a price tag comparable to the Apple AirPods Pro ($249). By contrast, the Pixel Buds A-Series only costs $99, making it one of the more affordable earbuds. To refresh your memory, the A-Series packs 12mm dynamic drivers plus beamforming microphones. It also offers passive noise reduction and IPX4-certified sweat/water resistance. Meanwhile, Adaptive Sound can automatically increase or decrease the volume of the earbuds depending on the noise around you. Among its coolest features is the ability to provide real-time translation in over 40 languages. However, this feature requires a Pixel smartphone or a device running Android 6.0 or newer. The battery performance is pretty decent, too, and the Pixel Buds A-Series can last for up to 5 hours with a single charge on the charging case. As for the Pixel Buds Pro, Google could likely pack a larger battery since ANC tends to eat into the battery rather quickly.
