Some new features were announced earlier this year about the ‘About this result’. Now, at the Search On 2021, the company has announced three new sections for the ‘About this result’ panel. According to 9to5Google, Google will now show extra information about the source from Wikipedia, find out what others have to say about the website, including news, reviews, or information helpful for more background context. Last but not the least, you will also be shown information such as top news coverage and other results related to the same topic from third-party sources. All these new features will enable users to get more information from the ‘About this result’ panel. In order to access the newly revamped ‘About this result’ section, you need to tap on the 3-dots icon on any search result that you have made. By doing so, you will learn more about your search.
The Google search ‘About this result’ panel will be available for English queries in the US
On the mobile app, the new Google search ‘About this result’ panel will open as a bottom sheet. So, all the extra information will be load in a separate sheet, that opens from the bottom and doesn’t cover the entire screen. In order to access the three new sections of this panel, you need to tap on the ‘More about this page.’ Google says that people don’t come and use Google search just for quick facts. They often want to explore in-depth information related to their searches. Besides, they also want to know if the information is coming from a reliable source or not. It becomes very important to know about the sources if your search is related to medicine or a topic that you are not familiar with. Since, in both cases, there is very little room for getting wrong, having information from a reliable source is essential. The three new sections on the ‘About this result’ panel help you do exactly that. Over the coming weeks, Google will be expanding the new ‘About this result’ panel with revamped with new sections for English queries in the US. Notably, Google previewed this expanded Google search panel back at the I/O 2021 event. However, the company says it will bring this new feature to more countries around the world in the near future.
