Google One primarily offers expanded cloud storage but the company has been gradually adding new features to it. Today, you get add-ons like a VPN, direct access to Google experts, rebate on Google Store purchases, and many others with it, though some add-ons are exclusive to select subscription plans. Prices start at $1.99 per month and go up to $9.99 per month. Play Pass, on the other hand, is a subscription service that gives you access to paid Android apps and games for a monthly nominal fee of $4.99 (or $29.99 yearly). Google is now preparing to offer it at even lower prices with Google One. Users will get a percentage discount on the combined price of the two services. Unfortunately, the strings don’t reveal the exact discount percentage as yet. According to 9to5Google, who decompiled the APK to discover these plans, users will also get a free trial for an unspecified period if they choose to subscribe to the bundle. Once the free trial period is over, you will be automatically charged the subscription fee after the discount. This discounted bundle will be available for all Google One subscribers. By default, it will start with the $1.99 per month plan which gives 100GB of cloud storage. But you can upgrade to the $2.99 per month (200GB storage) as well as the $9.99 per month (2TB storage with VPN for Android) plans. Just like your current Google One subscription, you will be able to share your Play Pass bundle with all members of your Google Family. You can also cancel your bundle subscription anytime. If you cancel the bundle, you will be able to individually subscribe to either service at its regular monthly price.
Google preparing to offer Google One and Play pass in a discounted bundle
It’s unclear when Google plans to officially launch this Google One-Play Pass bundle. But by the looks of it, the company wants to make Google One a proper rival to Apple’ssimilarly named Apple One service. The latter also bundles services like Apple Music and Apple TV+. By bundling Play Pass, Google is making Google One more than just a subscription cloud storage service. We will be keeping an eye on when this discounted bundle becomes available to users.
