Wear OS has definitely been neglected over the past couple of years. Google failed to release any notable updates to Wear OS 2 after a while, and we all began to lose faith in it. However, last year, Google announced that it wanted to pay more attention to its smartwatch operating system and unveiled Wear OS 3. We’re still waiting to really see Wear OS 3 at its full potential, as it’s slowly trickling to the general populace.
Google plans to give Wear OS really updates
Between Wear OS and Android, Google has obviously been putting more attention to the letter. It gets yearly updates with the biggest update in years happening last year. Wear OS, on the other hand, has been left out in the rain. However, according to Wired, Google is planning on delivering yearly updates to Wear OS. This is a statement by Björn Kilburn, Google’s director of product management for Wear OS. So, the company is planning on delivering yearly software updates to Wear OS much in the same fashion that it does with Android. At this point, we’re not sure if Google will release Wear OS updates on the same day as new Android platforms, or if the company will have a dedicated day. Also, we’re not sure if the company will offer a beta program for Wear OS testers. In any case, it’s great to see that Google is really putting more effort toward making Wear OS a better platform. With yearly updates, we obviously shouldn’t expect many new features to launch. Wear OS 3 was a major departure from Wear OS 2.
