If you’re not sure how to prepare your Android phone to be used as your GeForce NOW setup, not to worry. We can walk you through the process with this handy guide. There are a handful of steps to get things up and running. But once you’re there, playing games is as easy as opening up the app and tapping the play button on your game of choice.

How to use your Android phone for your GeForce NOW setup

If you’ve read this far, then we’ll presume you have at least some interest in playing games with GeForce NOW from your phone. So, let’s get things set up so you can stream anywhere you like so long as you have an internet connection.

Pick a plan and subscribe to GeForce NOW

If you haven’t already done so, then your first order of business should be to setup a GeForce NOW account. You can do this easily by going to the GeForce NOW homepage. If you want to learn more about GeForce NOW first, you can check out our guide on it. Plus, there will be a link to the GeForce NOW subscription page within that post.

Download the GeForce NOW app on your phone

After you have your account all set up, the next thing you’re going to want to do is download the GeForce NOW app on your device. You can find the GeForce NOW app in the Play Store. Which you can get to from this link.

Launch the app and get signed in

After you install it, launch the app and get signed in with your account that you set up earlier.

Configure your settings

Now that you’ve got the app installed and you’re signed in with your account, it’s worth taking a look at the settings for the app. Just to make sure you have things configured the way you want for things to work optimally. This can include enabling 5G connections for streaming games, and what quality you want the stream to be. Even if you’re not immediately sure, give the settings a once over and if nothing else, you can decide what you want things to be later. At least this way if you know what settings can be adjusted, you can go back to them later. Letting you fine tune your experience when you have the time and patience to do so.

Connect a controller

While you can use touch controls for some games, a controller is definitely recommended. In fact I highly encourage it as it honestly just provides a better experience for playing games. Luckily there are a good number of controllers that are supported. If we’re on the go, we suggest the Razer Kishi which is what we usually use. But you could also use an Xbox controller. You just want to make sure you have a mount for the phone if you go that route. Other usable controller include the Kunai 3 from ASUS if you’re using a ROG Phone 5. Really though, any Bluetooth controller should work ok. Now that you’ve got your phone ready to use as your GeForce NOW setup, make sure your controller of choice is connected to your phone.

Add games to your GeForce NOW library

One thing you’ll need to do is make sure you have games added to your library. This will make it a lot easier and faster to hop into a game whenever you want to play. Also worth noting is that after adding games to your library, you will need to sign into whatever platform those games come from. Whether it be Steam, the Epic Games Store etc.

Find and play a game

Now it’s time to find a game to play. With your controller connected and your account set up, you should be able to see all the games in your library. Decide what you want to play and then click on the play button. If everything is connected, then the game should boot up and you’re good to go.

Why using GeForce NOW on Android can be the better experience

For starters, because you can. But on a more reasonable level, it can be a better experience because you can play pretty much anywhere. Even if you’re at home and have your PC nearby, you can play on the couch if you want to. Or you can play in bed. And GeForce NOW on Android is great for when you’re away from home. Which is the primary reason to use it on your mobile device in our opinion. Granted, you’ll need a reliable 5G connection. But if that’s not an issue for you, using your phone to stream games is much more convenient than something like a laptop. If you’ve not tested GeForce NOW on your phone, definitely give a try. You shouldn’t be disappointed.
