Sometimes the events are focused on a single game. But other times, like today, the events are reserved for numerous new game reveals. Sony confirms that today’s event will be nearly a half an hour of game reveals for both its current and last-gen consoles. And while there’s no hints on what the games could be, there are certainly a few titles players are probably hoping to learn more about. Could Sony show off more about upcoming Final Fantasy titles? Chances are there will be some footage of the upcoming Crisis Core Reunion, which just had its release date announced during this morning’s Nintendo Direct.
How to watch the September 13 PlayStation State of Play event
Sony will be holding the livestream on its two usual channels. YouTube and Twitch. So you can tune into the Twitch channel here or watch the event through YouTube from the video below. The livestream begins at 3pm PT and will last until about 3:30pm PT. It’s not a long event, but then again the State Of Play stream never really are. It’s also possible to watch the stream directly on your PlayStation console if you have the YouTube app installed. If you prefer to watch the streams that way.
What to expect during the livestream
Sony isn’t dropping any major details about what we’ll see. But it did mention that this livestream will have reveals and updates for PS5, PS4, and PS VR2. Specifically, Sony says the livestream will contain “news on 10 upcoming PS5, PS4, and PS VR2 games.” This doesn’t necessarily suggest the reveals will be for big, AAA games with a lot of hype surrounding them. And if you want to avoid any sort of disappointment, it’s probably best to go into watching the stream without any expectations. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming a little bit and hoping to see something you’re excited for. In addition to reveals for these games, today’s PlayStation State Of Play should also include “sneak peeks” at some games in development for the PS VR2 headset. Sony has already confirmed that there will be over 20 games available for the headset at launch. So there’s a good chance this State Of Play will show off at least some of those titles. If you’re waiting on Sony’s next-gen virtual reality headset, this is a stream you won’t want to miss. Because it’ll be your first decent look at what games you can play with the hardware.
