HarmonyOS 3.0 will become official on July 27, Huawei says

Huawei teased the arrival of HarmonyOS on Weibo, by using “the future” and “evolution” taglines. In case you’re wondering, the event itself will start at 7:30 PM local time, which translates to 1:30 PM CET, and 7:30 AM EST.

Now, this event is taking place in China, but Huawei also announced a new Smart Office launch party, which will take place the same day, hinting at the global importance of this event.

HarmonyOS 3.0 is a real mystery at this point

HarmonyOS 3.0 is a huge mystery at this point, though. We know literally nothing about the new version of Huawei’s OS. Not a single drop of information appeared in the last weeks or months, so it won’t be hard for Huawei to surprise us. Now, HarmonyOS 3.0 is teased for this event, but Huawei may deliver more devices alongside it. What better way to demo a new version of your Android-based OS than to do it on a brand new device. That being said, Huawei may present some new Nova phones, or perhaps even the Mate 50 Pro, though that’s not as likely. We’ve seen bits and pieces of that phone popping up online, but nothing concrete.

Huawei’s Android OS comes without Google services

For those of you who are wondering, HarmonyOS 3.0 is Android-based, but it doesn’t come with Google services. The reason for that is the ban the US issued on Huawei a while back. The company is not allowed to use Google services because of it. Instead of the Google Play Store, you’re getting Huawei’s AppGallery on the device. There are a number of ways you can grab apps that are not in the AppGallery, though, and some are really simple, including Huawei’s very own Petal Search. Do note that using Google apps is not an option, though. There are ways to get it working, but those methods don’t usually last very long. HarmonyOS 2.0 is really compelling, though, and we’re sure that HarmonyOS 3.0 will take things to a new level. It remains to be seen what exactly we’ll get, though.
