It seems that there are new features coming to the platform about every few weeks. Along with the major changes to the platform’s video features, Instagram has been making tweaks and changes to the overall experience. These changes have been pretty well-received, and it looks like the company is not stopping.
Instagram is working on five new features
We just got a slew of tweets from developer Alessandro Paluzzi, and they all show leaked screenshots of upcoming features. Since these are leaks of new features that could or could not arrive, you should take this with a grain of salt. This is especially true for two of these features because they would conflict with one another if they both launched. The first feature will only apply to you if you’re subscribed to users’ profiles. There will be a tab on the user’s profile that’s dedicated to subscriber-only content. When you go to someone’s profile, you’ll see a crown-shaped icon next to the Reels icon.
Two features will be new ways to reply to Stories
The next two features are the ones that would conflict if they launched. These are two new ways that people could respond to Stories. One method we already covered; it will allow people to respond to Stories with short audio clips. There will be a microphone icon in the chat bar. Tapping it will let you record a short audio message to send to the creator. The other feature will let users reply using pictures. Looking at the leaked screenshot, we see that the new picture icon could take the same space that the microphone icon would; only one of these features might make the cut. Both of these features present a problem in the form of replies from bad actors. People will have easy access to send abusive content to the creator, so Instagram will need to have some sort of filter in place.
These next two round out the list
Next up, Instagram could be getting a QR code function to share posts. When you tap on the share option, you’ll see a new QR code option on the bottom of the screen. Finishing off this list of five new Instagram features, the company could be testing out disappearing reactions. When a person sends a reaction, it will disappear after being seen. There’s no telling when these five new features will go live on Instagram. At this point, there’s no telling if we’ll see all (if any) of these features coming in the near future.
