Instagram may soon allow everyone to create even longer Reels

Well, in the near future, Instagram may allow you to shoot Reels that are 90 seconds long. The tipster says that it’s possible, but nothing is set in stone just yet. In order to prove his information, Mr. Paluzzi did share a screenshot on Twitter. If you take a look at the image provided below, you’ll see a toggle for Reels length. In this screenshot, the 90-second option is selected. Reels length is constantly increasing. First, it was 15 seconds, then 30 seconds, then 60 seconds, and Instagram could now boost it by additional 30 seconds.

— Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) February 1, 2022 This change wouldn’t surprise us, as Reels are Instagram’s way to compete with TikTok. TikTok already allows its users to shoot much longer videos, so Instagram may release this 90-second option. In fact, the company may end up increasing this limit further down the line.

TikTok videos are now limited to 3 minutes

TikTok videos are now limited to 3 minutes, which is three times as much as Reels now offer. Will Instagram ever push Reels that far? Well, only time will tell. It seems like we’ll get the 90-second option first, however. One thing is for sure, Reels managed to become quite popular for Instagram since the company launched the feature. Reels arrived in 2020, and there are quite a few people who use the feature these days. TikTok has been the most popular app for Android for quite some time, so Instagram constantly has to push Reels forward, in order to keep up. Short-form videos did manage to become extremely popular in the last couple of years. Do note that this 90-second change for Reels is not yet available in any form, and we cannot confirm that the change will ever happen. Based on what the tipster said, though, it is coming, and quite probably soon.
