The iPhone 13 Pro is more expensive to make than the iPhone 12 Pro, and it also costs more to make than the Galaxy S21+. That is quite interesting to see.

The iPhone 13 Pro costs a bit more to make than the Galaxy S21+

Now, per the source, the iPhone 13 Pro costs around $570 to build. The iPhone 12 Pro, for comparison’s sake, costs $548.50 to make, while the Galaxy S21+ (256GB of storage) costs $508 to make. The iPhone 13 Pro cost could be attributed to the global chip shortage, partially.

What’s interesting is that the iPhone 13 Pro did not use the latest RAM available, though that’s not surprising. Apple opted for LPDDR4X RAM instead of LPDDR5 RAM that many Android flagships have used thus far. What’s also interesting is that the iPhone 13 Pro sells for 1.9 times its build cost, presuming that TechInsights information is accurate, of course. Its retail price tag is $1,099. Do note that the estimated $570 build cost does not include software costs, intellectual property, labor, and shipping. So, that’s not the overall cost to build the smartphone, that’s the cost of its hardware. Such data is always interesting to see, though it doesn’t really reveal anything we didn’t know already. The cost of the iPhone 13 Pro was presumed to be close to the cost of the Galaxy S21+.

It would be interesting to see a cost comparison between the iPhone 13 Pro Max & Galaxy S21 Ultra

What would be interesting to see is a comparison between the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Those two phones are the very best these two companies have to offer. If we had to guess, we’d say that the Galaxy S21 Ultra costs a bit more to make, but that’s just a wild guess. The iPhone 13 Pro Max shouldn’t be that much more expensive to make than the iPhone 13 Pro, as the only difference between them lies in display size, and battery capacity. The difference between the Galaxy S21+ and S21 Ultra is much more considerable.
