As of this writing, the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ is rolling out to carrier-locked units with firmware version G97*USQU6IVE7. The update is available to users on Comcast and Xfinity Mobile networks. But it shouldn’t be long before Samsung brings other networks into the fold. The carrier-locked units of the Galaxy S10 trio should also join the party soon. The Galaxy A13, which is only available unlocked in the US, is already receiving the June SMR widely. Rolling out with firmware version A135U1UES1AVF1, the latest update is available to download on Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, AT&T, Comcast, Bluegrass Cellular, and many other networks. The remaining few would also get on board soon. The June security update for Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy smartphones and tablets fixes more than 70 vulnerabilities. These include five critical Android OS flaws and 25 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. SVEs are security issues that only affect the Korean firm’s devices. Some of the SVEs patched last month were pretty severe, including one that allowed attackers to steal your Wi-Fi SSID and password. If you’re using either a Galaxy S10 model or the Galaxy A13 in the US, all of these security fixes should be available to you anytime now. As usual, you will get a notification once the update becomes available. You can also head over to the Settings app on your phone, go to the Software update menu, and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually.
Samsung has already released the July update
The Galaxy S10 trio and the Galaxy A13 may be just starting to receive the June security update in the US, but Samsung has already released the July SMR too. Perhaps the latest security patch has already rolled out to dozens of Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S10 Lite. The Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ should join the party over the next few weeks. The Galaxy A13, meanwhile, may not receive the July SMR. The budget model launched earlier this year gets security updates quarterly, i. e. once every three months. The next update may not arrive before September. We will let you know when it does.
