According to noted tipster Ice Universe, the Dimensity 9200 will feature a Mali Immortalis G715 MC11 GPU. It scored 328 fps in the GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.0 offscreen test and 228 fps in Manhattan 3.1 offscreen tests. That’s notably higher than the Dimensity 9000+’s scores of 220 fps and 160 fps, respectively (via). The new MediaTek processor also crushed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (281 fps and 188 fps) and Apple’s latest A16 Bionic (280 fps and 200 fps). The source claims that the Dimensity 9200’s GPU performance is on par with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The two solutions will be competing directly against each other, fighting for a place inside flagship Android smartphones in 2023. And early numbers hint at a pretty close competition, not just in terms of GPU but CPU as well. Another noted Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station previously claimed that the Dimenaity 9200 will feature a triple-cluster CPU core arrangement. It’ll have one ARM Cortex-X3 prime core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A715 mid-cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also said to feature a similar CPU arrangement.

The Dimensity 9200 will arrive before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Neither MediaTek nor Qualcomm has officially announced the launch dates for their respective flagship processors for 2023. But they both have given enough hints. Firstly, Qualcomm announced in July that its next Snapdragon Summit will take place between November 15 and November 17 in Hawaii. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should debut during this event. MediaTek, meanwhile, is looking to steal some thunder from its arch-rival by unveiling the Dimensity 9200 next Tuesday, i. e. November 8. The Taiwanese firm hasn’t officially announced the date but is reportedly sending private media invites for the event next week. We expect the company to publicly announce the date soon. Rumors are that Vivo’s upcoming X90 series will use both of these chipsets. Vanilla Vivo X90 and the X90 Pro will feature the Dimensity 9200, while the Vivo X90 Pro+ will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Chinese company will pair the processor with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage, which are the latest memory and mobile storage standards, respectively. It isn’t a too long wait now before the next-gen flagship Android processors go official.
