Most people probably don’t really know about this platform actually. It’s not as widely known as Meta’s other properties. We know that there was a dating platform on Facebook a while back where you could find romantic partners locally. However, Tuned was a standalone application.

Meta will shut down Tuned in September

Back in 2020, Meta (then Facebook) decided to dip its toe into the world of romance. It created a platform for romantic couples called Tuned, and it was mostly to help people connect over large distances. While on the app, you’re able to privately share your romantic feelings and other types of mush. You could even share music streams using the app. We’re not sure if this was a result of the Covid-19 pandemic because that was at its height around that time. You could find someone special and make a connection with them. But, sadly, all good things must come to an end. In a recent announcement from the Tuned website, Meta is going to shut down the app in less than two months. This means that people who’ve been connecting these past two years will need to find another platform. The switch will be flipped on September 19, so couples have ample time to migrate to another platform (or meet IRL). In the actual post, it explains how you can download your data so that you won’t lose it. This is just in case you want to save whatever romantic love notes truly touched you. You’ll need to go to the settings and save your data as a .zip file and then download it. The file will consist of all of your photos and videos along with the entire feed of your chats.

Why is this app shutting down?

Meta told Engadget that the reason why it’s shutting down the platform is that it’s “not sticking”. That should come as no surprise. No one really knew about it, so you shouldn’t expect it to dethrone Tinder.
