The mobile gaming market made up more than half of the gaming revenue
Sure, buying 100 super crystals on your favorite mobile game only costs $.99, but those little transactions add up. Big-title mobile games like Candy Crush, Genshin Impact, Fortnite wrack up billions of dollars every year, and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down. This is why there are so many companies making near-console grade games for the small screens in lieu of consoles or PCs. It got to the point where mobile games started warring with console and PC games in terms of revenue. Well, according to a new report from New Zoo, it looks like mobile gaming has just won the war. The information comes from a PDF slide that shows a pie chart of mobile, console, and PC gaming revenue. We see that, in total, mobile gaming made up roughly 52% of the gaming market in terms of revenue. It totaled about $93.2 billion last year which left the other markets trailing behind. The console market was in second place with about 28% of the market ($50.4 billion), and the PC market brings up the rear at about 20% ($36.7 billion). Combining the console and PC’s revenue will get you just over $87 billion. In the gaming market, the APAC (Asian Pacific) region made the most money last year. Of the $93.2 billion in revenue last year, APAC made up about 64% of that. Specifically, the Chinese market is leading the pack. The Chinese market made about $18 billion in revenue last year.
The mobile gaming market has been growing YoY

The revenue from mobile gaming increased about 36.5% since 2019, and it’s projected to grow over the years. According to the source, it’s projected to increase to about $116.1 billion by 2024. That’s an expected increase of about 24.5% in the next three years. With things like microtransactions, ads, subscriptions services, and up-front payments, the mobile gaming market is the fastest-growing gaming market. The growth is only expected to increase as the years go on.
