Mobile shopping apps strived during the pandemic, new report claims

This report is based on more than 95 billion ad impressions, 1.1 billion clicks across 14 million installs, and 39 million in-app events. The report was conducted between June 1, 2020, and June 1, 2021. According to the report, mobile users have spent 49-percent more time on shipping apps since January 2020. The APAC region marked the most significant growth in time spent (54-percent), while it’s followed by the Americas (40-percent), and Europe and the Middle East (38-percent). The purchase rates increased by 30.1-percent between January 2021 and May 2021 (growing from 15.3-percent to 19.9-percent). On top of that, purchase sizes also increased, hitting a high $88 in June 2021 (a 15.8-percent increase compared to January). Android users were spending a ton of time on retail apps. They recorded a collective 2 billion hours a week on such apps as of May 2021. This is a staggering 51-percent increase YoY (Year-over-Year).

Android beats iOS in install-to-action rate category

The report claims that Android’s $2.13 cost-per-install (CPI) was 55-percent less expensive than the $3.85 iOS marked. At the same time, the install-to-action rate is on Android’s side, 16.5-percent compared to 11.3-percent from iOS. The report also claims that this trend shows no signs of stopping. Throughout 2021, we’ll probably keep seeing a great focus on shopping apps, and constant growth in that sector. If you’d like to check out the full report, click here. It will be interesting to see what will 2021 as a whole look like. We’re hoping that a similar study is taking place as we speak, and that we’ll get final results at the beginning of 2022.
