Foldable phones are becoming more ubiquitous as time goes on thanks to Samsung. The Korean brand is the most popular foldable phone manufacturer with its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones. Last year, we were following rumors that Google was going to bring its own foldable phone to the market, oh, but that has not happened yet.

However, we have new renders of the Pixel Fold

This is the first bit of solid information about this phone that we’ve gotten in a while. We were hoping to hear about this phone during Google I/O or during the Pixel event. That never happened, and it left a lot of us wondering if Google had canceled this project. With all the excitement surrounding the Pixel Tablet, Pixel Watch, and Pixel 7 phones, we started to forget about this phone. However, Front Page Tech was able to get a ton of information about it and show us what the device could look like. The phone, codenamed “Project Passport”, will not share the aesthetic of the Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 as we expected. Instead of a camera visor stretching across the back plate, there will be a rectangular camera Island smack dab in the middle. Based on the renders, it looks pretty massive. There is a set of dual speakers with one up top and one on the bottom. The bottom speaker will complement the USB-C Port while the speaker up top will accompany the 5G antenna band. Opening up the device, based on the new renders, the Pixel Fold will have some pretty big bezels. They are definitely larger than the bezels on the Galaxy Z foldables. Within the display, there will be a 9.5-megapixel selfie camera. This also goes for the external selfie camera.

Additional details about this phone

Based on the renders, the Pixel Fold will have a triple camera setup that looks similar to the Pixel 7’s. The external display will be your typical Pixel display with the front-facing camera sitting in a punch hole. This phone is expected to come in two colors: Chalk and Obsidian- White and black. As for the price, it’s going to be more expensive than the previously-rumored $1,400. Based on the information, the Pixel Fold may cost $1,799. Last but not least, the source states that this phone will launch sometime in May 2023 along with the Pixel Tablet. We will have to wait for more information as this is still a developing story.
