Hyundai started offering vehicles with the NVIDIA DRIVE ecosystem back in 2022. And now offers it across its entire lineup. Meanwhile BYD is going to start building its vehicles on the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform in the first half of 2023. And Polestar will offer it with the upcoming Polestar 3. This means you’re likely to see GeForce NOW on Hyundai vehicles first. Though NVIDIA nor the manufacturers have mentioned when the service would pop up on in-vehicle displays. Regardless, the announcement comes at a good time. Since NVIDIA also just announced the new Ultimate plan for GeForce NOW which utilizes RTX 4080 GPUs.

GeForce NOW won’t necessarily be available in cars at all times

We’ve seen tech like this before with Tesla’s introduction of Steam on its in-car displays. And there have been numerous custom setups with built-in consoles to play games on the road. With GeForce NOW, cloud gaming won’t be available inside cars at all times. At least, not technically. Really it all comes down to where you’re bringing up the service. And by where, we mean which display. If you’re seating in the front, the driver and front seat passengers can only play games using GeForce NOW while the car is parked or charging. Rear seat passengers however can play games even while the vehicle is in motion. This will make road trips a lot more of a breeze for families or groups of friends. Effectively nixing boredom with a library of over 1,000 controller compatible game titles. While the vehicle selection for this is going to be limited at first, consumers should (hopefully) see more auto makers introduce vehicles with the NVIDIA DRIVE ecosystem sooner rather than later.
