The most affordable Samsung foldable is picking up the new update with the firmware version F711BXXU2AUJ7, a SamMobile report reveals. This build number suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is gaining some new features and/or improvements with the latest update. Perhaps some optimizations for improved device stability and performance. It’s a fairly new phone, so Samsung might still have some optimizations to do. Unfortunately, we don’t have the official changelog yet to confirm the contents of this update. That said, we do know the contents of this month’s security patch. Samsung has already published the updated security bulletin to reveal that the latest SMR contains fixes for more than 60 vulnerabilities. 32 of them are Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. These are privacy and security issues that only affect the Korean firm’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The rest of the issues were found in Google’s version of Android and were accordingly patched by the internet giant. At least nine of the issues patched this month were of critical severity. You can find more details about the contents of the October SMR for Samsung devices here.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 is now receiving the October update in more regions

Samsung has recently made a habit of releasing the latest security update to its devices even before we have flipped the calendar to the new month. This month has been no different, with the company rolling out the October SMR to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the last week of September. Over the past three weeks, the new security patch has reached dozens of other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. And as days pass by, the rollout continues to expand to more territories for every device. Following South Korea and the US, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is now receiving the October update in more markets globally. If you’re using the latest clamshell folding phone from Samsung and haven’t received the new update yet, you should soon.
