As of this writing, the October SMR (Security Maintenance Release) is rolling out to the 4G LTE variant of the Galaxy A32 in Latin America. The update is widely available in the region, including in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and Uruguay. The new firmware version for the phone in the region is A325MUBS2BVJ1. Samsung should soon cover units in Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe with the new security update. The company also launched a 5G model in some markets, including the US, but it’s yet to get the October SMR. The Galaxy A72, meanwhile, is initially receiving the October update in Europe. The latest SMR comes with firmware version A725FXXS4BVI2 and is available widely in the region. We expect Samsung to roll out the update to the phone in other regions in the coming days. This Galaxy mid-ranger didn’t launch in the US. If you’re using either of these Samsung phones, the October SMR should be available to you shortly unless you have already updated it. But if you haven’t, you can check for it from the Settings app on your phone. Go to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install. If an update is available, you’ll be prompted to download it. If there’s no pending update, check again a few days later. You may also receive a notification once the new software package becomes available for your Galaxy A32 or Galaxy A72. Note that this update doesn’t bring any major new features or changes to these two Samsung smartphones. The company is only sending you the latest vulnerability fixes. The October SMR patches around 50 vulnerabilities, including a few critical ones. Most of the patches are for Android OS flaws from Google. But Samsung also patched some Galaxy-specific issues with this release.

Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A72 will get the Android 13 update

Samsung launched the Galaxy A32 in February last year (the 5G model in January) and the Galaxy A72 in March. Both phones debuted with Android 11 out of the box. They have received the Android 12 update and are eligible for Android 13 as well. The next Android version should roll out to these phones in early 2023. We will let you know when the update arrives.
