The Pixel 7 Mini remains a possibility, but it probably won’t happen
He first managed to find some display information pertaining to the Pixel Fold, Google’s upcoming foldable smartphone. Just to be clear, that name hasn’t been confirmed, nor has the device itself. Following that, the Pixel 7 Ultra was touted by the developer. Well, following that information, he shared some additional info on Twitter, suggesting that the ‘Ultra’ model may, in fact, be the ‘Mini’ variant. That would make more sense, as the Pixel 7 Pro is essentially an ‘Ultra’ phone. The thing is, there are two codenames that Kuba Wojciechowski spotted. The first is ‘Felix’, and the second is ‘Lynx’. The first is believed to be the company’s foldable smartphone. A ton of info supporting that claim already surfaced. The second one is a mystery, though. At first, he thought it was the Pixel Ultra, but that’s not necessarily true. What do we know about the ‘Lynx’ model at this point? Well, it will switch from the BCM4389 WiFi/BT that was used on the Pixel 6 and 7, to the Qualcomm WCN6740 chip.

The ‘Lynx’ is also said to use the “S6E3FC3” family of panels. In other words, it will use a family of displays found on the Pixel 6, 7, and 6a. In other words, it will use a non-Pro display, which suggests this could be a ‘Mini’ model, and not an ‘Ultra’ one. This display will be capped at fullHD+, and that’s not exactly a display Google would use in an ‘Ultra’ phone. So, does that mean we’ll get a ‘Mini’ Pixel phone? Well, previous rumors did point in that direction, and so does the developer, kind of. The thing is, the ‘Lynx’ phone could just as easily be the Pixel 7a, which would make a lot more sense. If we had to guess, we’d say that it is the Pixel 7a after all, despite all the noise, but we’ll see.
