PUBG Mobile will join seven other Esports in the 2022 Asian Games
PUBG is one of the most popular multiplayer games out right now, being a competitor to the wildly popular Fortnite. Its mobile counterpart is also really popular, gathering more than a billion downloads across both platforms. Because of this, it was able to gain a spot in the Asian Games for next year. The other games are Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, DOTA 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA SPORTS FIFA branded soccer games, Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V. The fact that PUBG Mobile was able to gain a spot alongside major console and PC games says a lot about its popularity. We’re not sure if there will be any other games added to this list.
This is a medaled competition
Since the Asian Games is an official national competition, the winners won’t only be able to win bragging rights. The Asian Games are a big deal, so the winners will be able to win official medals. This is still an odd concept to grasp even though Esports have been around for a while. They’re still making their way into more types of competitions. The 2020 Asian Games were the first ones to have video games included, so it shows that there’s progress. The Asian Games are recognized as the second-largest event of its kind, behind only the Olympics. Earning a spot in the 2022 Asian Games speaks volumes about its popularity.
What else is PUBG Mobile up to?
As mentioned before, PUBG Mobile has been in the news a lot lately. There’s an ongoing event where you can earn items themed after the Liverpool Football Club. This is a popular soccer club with iconic red uniforms. This event is running from November 12th to November 20th. Perhaps you want something different; something a little bit more arcane. The new Netflix series Arcane has just launched, and it’s already making waves. It follows the story of two sisters as they survive in an underground city. Tencent Games partnered with Riot Games to bring some items into the game. At this point, we don’t know what to expect. There could be skins or weapons added into the game. This event will start on November 16th so there’s plenty of time to watch the series in the meantime.
