The company is also bringing new Faceplates to reflect the spirit of Halloween. Customers of Ring Video Doorbell 3, 3 Plus, and Ring Video Doorbell 4 will get Halloween pumpkins and autumn scene Faceplate options. Meanwhile, Ring Video Doorbell 2 users can get Faceplates with Bats and spiderwebs ahead of the festive season. These replacement Faceplates cost $14.99 each.
Quick Replies are not compatible with the Ring Video Doorbell Wired
The manufacturer is also adding Halloween Chime Tones. Options include bats, ghosts, howl, scream, spooky organ tones, creepy laugh, screeching cat, and creaky door. This is a neat twist to the standard “Ding Dong!”
As for Quick Replies, the company says it can be set up from the Ring app. This feature is compatible with all Ring doorbells except Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Customers on the Ring Protect Plan can view the recorded video and audio after someone presses the doorbell. However, the Halloween-themed Quick Replies are free to use. The company shared four of the six preset Quick Replies available to customers: “Tell us what brings you here…or we’ll put a spell on you!” “Boo! Leave us a message if you dare [evil laugh].” “Just a minute! Feel free to park your broom.” “Please leave the package (and any hocus pocus) outside.” Ring said that it would replace these Halloween-oriented Quick Replies with winter holiday options by the end of October. Last year, the company added new chimes for the holiday season, including options like Deck the Halls, Elves, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, I Have a Little Dreidel, Ma’oz Tzur, Oh Hannukah, and several others. The company acknowledges that Halloween is the busiest holiday for doorbells, so these additions fit nicely with the festive theme. Ring made some significant announcements last week. Among them was the Always Home Cam, a.k.a the indoor surveillance drone for $249. The drone flies within the path set by the user and is also quite audible, essentially letting people know that they’re being recorded. The Always Home Cam also includes obstacle avoidance technology to ensure it doesn’t bump into objects inside your home.
