First and foremost, let’s just say that the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the only one that ships with an LTPO display. It is also worth noting that Samsung changed its information regarding refresh rates since launch, so we want to set the record straight.

The Galaxy S22 & S22+ have different variable refresh rates than the ‘Ultra’

It originally stated that both the Galaxy S22 and S22+ offer 10-120Hz variable refresh rate displays. That’s not accurate. Only the Galaxy S22 Ultra offers such a display. The Galaxy S22 and S22+ offer 48-120Hz variable refresh rate displays. In other words, the same variable refresh rates as their predecessors.

This information has been confirmed by Samsung, via its official website, reports Ross Young. The Galaxy S22 Ultra stands out in the display section, of course. Thanks to wider refresh rate options, its display should be able to draw less power. Though, if you factor in its higher resolution, well… that’s up for debate as well.

The Galaxy S22 comes with a smaller battery than its predecessor

What is a bit worrisome is the battery life on the Galaxy S22. The device offers 300mAh less battery capacity than its predecessor. We originally thought that the 10-120Hz variable refresh rate is supposed to compensate for the decrease, but that won’t be the case. The Galaxy S21 wasn’t exactly a champion in the battery life department, so this decrease is kind of worrisome. It will be interesting to see how will the device perform over time, that’s for sure. The Galaxy S22 Ultra should be able to offer excellent battery life, though. Its predecessor had the same battery capacity, and offered excellent battery life. So, the expectations are high for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. As a side note, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ have 6.1 and 6.6-inch displays, respectively. Those are fullHD+ panels. The Galaxy S22 Ultra includes a 6.8-inch QHD+ display, The first two are flat, the Ultra’s is curved.
