Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S8 series alongside the Galaxy S22 smartphone lineup in February this year. The tablets arrived 18 months after the Galaxy Tab S7 series in August 2020. The company didn’t launch any flagship tablet in 2021 as the market slowed down after a sudden peak in demand during the coronavirus pandemic. But as things started to improve, it was expected to return to a yearly launch cycle for its flagship tablets with the Galaxy Tab S9 series early next year. However, thanks to the latest economic headwinds, the market is experiencing another slowdown. Research firm DSCC has already projected the global tablet market to decrease by 8 percent this year, though it is optimistic about premium models. The firm estimated a 22 percent increase in the shipment of premium tablets. But Samsung is being cautious and may once again make us wait for more than a year for a new premium Android tablet. According to The Elec, the company was planning to begin the development of the Galaxy Tab S9 series in December this year. This suggests the plan was to release them early next year, possibly alongside the Galaxy S23 lineup or shortly after it. Unfortunately, current market situations have now forced Samsung to delay the tablets. It still plans to launch the Galaxy Tab S9 next year, but there’s no timeline available yet. Maybe the company would introduce the products alongside the next-gen foldables in mid-2023, we will have to wait and see.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series will include three models

Samsung launched three models of the Galaxy Tab S8 series earlier this year. The vanilla model featured an LCD screen while the Galaxy Tab S8+ and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra got AMOLED displays. The company reportedly plans to follow the same configuration for the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, respectively. Samsung also has a new Galaxy Tab S8 model in development. It could arrive as the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, succeeding the Galaxy Tab S7 FE launched in May last year. We expect to hear more about these upcoming Samsung products over the next few weeks and will keep you updated.
