Exynos-powered Galaxy S23 may exist

This information comes shortly after the Korean media reported that Samsung will not launch a new high-end Exynos processor in 2023 and 2024. The company has struggled to optimize its in-house processors for its smartphones lately. It is now looking to solve the issue by developing a custom chipset for its flagship smartphones. The planned custom SoC may not be ready before 2025 and Samsung prefers to use third-party processors till then. Its flagship smartphones in 2023 and 2024 were said to use Mediatek and Qualcomm chipsets. However, that’s unlikely now that the Korean firm is developing a new high-end Exynos processor. Of course, there’s no confirmation yet about the said S5E9935 chipset powering the Galaxy S23 phones next year. But it is quite likely to. The reported model number suggests the new SoC will arrive as the successor to the Korean firm’s Exynos 2200 processor (identified by model number S5E9925) that powers the Galaxy S22 series in some regions. So, in all likelihood, the upcoming flagship Exynos chipset will get the marketing name Exynos 2300. As such, it should sit inside the Galaxy S23 phones, at least in some markets. Nothing is set in stone yet, though. We expect to hear more about the Galaxy S23 series as well as the S5E9925 processor in the coming months, clearing the air around whether the new Exynos chipset will power the next-gen Samsung flagships. If Samsung indeed plans to skip Exynos processors for its flagship phones for the next couple of years, then the possible Exynos 2300 may end up in some premium Galaxy A-series models. Samsung is also developing a new mid-range Exynos processor

Along with the S5E9925 processor, Samsung also has a mid-range Exynos SoC in the works, currently identified as S5E8535. But it’s unclear where it will sit in the company’s stacking of Exynos chipsets. Its most recent mid-range processor — Exynos 1280 that powers the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G phones — bears the model number S5E8825. So the upcoming solution may be a less powerful SoC meant for budget smartphones. We will let you know as and when we have more information about this chipset.
