Samsung promises four years of Android OS updates for its flagships

This, of course, applies to the Galaxy S22 series, but even some older flagships. Samsung confirmed that this promise goes for its 2021 flagship as well. So, the Galaxy S21 series is included (including the S21 FE), and so is the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3. Considering that the Galaxy Tab S8 series of tablets got launched alongside the Galaxy S22, Those devices are also thrown in the mix. So, basically, if you have a Samsung flagship that got released in 2021 or 2022, you’re good. If we do the math, this means that the Galaxy S22 series, for example, will be supported all the way to Android 16. The 2021 flagships to Android 15, of course, as they arrived a generation earlier, with an earlier version of Android.

Samsung has been doing a great job in the updates department, for a while now

That is just… great. Samsung hasn’t really been the best in terms of updates for a long time, but the company started improving, and today it has an amazing reputation in that department. It releases updates really fast, even to its cheaper devices. Now, Samsung did say “up to” five years, so there’s always a chance the company will change its mind down the line. Still, considering how good Samsung has been in that regard, we’re hopeful it will deliver. Samsung likely wouldn’t make such a huge promise if it didn’t have an intention of coming through. This Korean tech giant is one of the best Android smartphone OEMs when it comes to updating, aside from Google, probably the best one.
