The latest update for the Galaxy Note 8 comes with firmware version N950FXXUGDVG5 and is already available pretty widely. According to SamMobile, the new software package is rolling out to users in dozens of countries around the world, including the UK, France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, South Africa, and Australia. It should reach other markets such as the US in the coming days. As expected, this update doesn’t bring anything apart from the aforementioned GPS stability improvements. Not even a new security patch. The Galaxy Note 8, which last received an update in August 2021, remains on the security patch from that month. Samsung didn’t seed new security patches with the latest update for Galaxy J7, Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S8 series phones either. It’s just the GPS fix that users are getting. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t tell what exactly has been fixed. Nonetheless, for those few still holding on to these discontinued smartphones, you should soon get a new OTA (over the air) update if you haven’t already. Make sure to install it as soon as possible for improved GPS performance.
