Sporting the same kind of stand you’ll see on the company’s massive Odyssey Ark monitor. Which probably means it’s a sturdier base than some of the stands on Samsung’s other Odyssey gaming monitors, such as the 34-inch ultrawide Odyssey G5. Great monitor, not so great stand. In addition to the OLED panel, the Odyssey OLED G8 also offers a 0.1ms response time, a 175Hz refresh rate, and a QHD resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8 comes with Smart Hub

The OLED G8 is going to be yet another monitor with Samsung Smart Hub attached to it. Which means you won’t really even need a computer to use the monitor. At least, not if you don’t need the computer for other things. See, Samsung Smart Hub allows access to things like Samsung Gaming Hub, which has apps for Stadia, GeForce NOW, Xbox Game Pass and more. If you want to play games, you can simply play them in the cloud through one of those services. Plus, Smart Hub also has apps for Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and other streaming services. Despite all that though, the monitor will definitely live up to its potential more with a gaming PC setup. It features VESA DisplayHDR 400 and AMD FreeSycnc Premium, as well as ports for Mini DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C among others. It also has the CoreSync lighting ring on the back for those that like that little bit of extra gamer aesthetic. Samsung hasn’t officially announced pricing on the monitor yet, but it does plan to do so closer to the launch. Which by the way is happening globally in Q4 of this year.
