The latest update for the unlocked Galaxy A53 in the US comes with firmware version A536U1UEU3AVH2. The OTA (over the air) rollout has already reached units on most carrier networks, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, and Xfinity Mobile. The remaining few carriers should also get into action soon. The build number for the new software package for the US Galaxy A53 unis suggests this update isn’t just about security fixes. There’s likely something more. International versions picked up camera software optimizations for improved camera performance. We expect the same optimizations to be rolling out to the US version too. Unfortunately, Samsung has yet to include the latest software release on its official update tracker. So we can’t confirm that just yet. However, we can confirm that the Galaxy A53 is getting dozens of vulnerability fixes with this update. Samsung has already revealed that the August SMR patches more than 60 privacy and security issue with its devices. About half of those patches come from Google because the flaws existed in Android OS. The company says one of the Android OS vulnerabilities it patched this month allowed a remote attacker to execute code on the victim’s device over Bluetooth. The remaining 30-odd vulnerabilities were found in Samsung’s custom software, i. e. One UI, and device components. The Korean firm labeled many of those as critical issues. Affected device components include Samsung DeX, Knox VPN, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, App Lock, and Dialer.

Samsung’s August update reaches the Galaxy A53 in the US

Samsung has been rolling out the August security update to its devices since the last week of July. It began with the Galaxy S22 series flagships and has covered pretty much all eligible flagship models since then. The company has also rolled out the update to dozens of budget and mid-range models. The Galaxy A53 started picking up the August SMR in international markets last week. It is now receiving the update in the US too. If you’re rocking this premium mid-range phone stateside, you can expect the update to hit your phone within the next few days if it hasn’t already.
