The June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the European Galaxy Z Flip units (model number SM-F700F) is rolling out with firmware version F700FXXU8GVF3. As Samsung mentioned in its monthly security bulletin earlier this month, the update will patch over 70 vulnerabilities. The majority of these flaws affected Android as a whole. But, some were exclusive to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Google and Samsung labeled a handful of the issues to be of critical severity. The original Galaxy Z Flip may also be getting additional bug fixes, improvements, and new features with this update, the build number for the new firmware suggests. But Samsung has yet to reflect this rollout on its update tracker. So we can’t confirm that just yet. The clamshell foldable received new camera features and some Bluetooth-related optimizations with the May update. As said earlier, the June SMR for the Galaxy Z Flip is currently available to users in Europe only. Italy, to be precise. But it shouldn’t be long before the update hits the phone in other European countries as well as the global markets. If you are one of the early adopters of Samsung’s clamshell foldable lineup, you should be getting the latest security update on your phone shortly. As it has been all this while, the update will arrive as an OTA (over the air) firmware. You will be notified of it once the OTA package hits your Galaxy Z Flip unit. If you can’t wait for the notification, you can manually check for updates from the Settings app. Simply head over to the Software update section and tap on Download and install. If you don’t see any pending updates, check again a few days later, or wait for the notification.

The Galaxy S20 FE 5G is widely receiving the June update in the US

Alongside the Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung is also now widely rolling out this month’s security update to the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in the US. The phone recently started picking up the new SMR stateside. The initial rollout was limited to carrier-locked units. But unlocked variants are also now getting the June SMR. You can check for the update following the aforementioned steps.
