According to the local publication Nation Thailand, the fire broke out at the back of the building (via). The blaze caught paper boxes used for packaging goods and spread into the front of the warehouse. Security officers on duty initially tried to control the fire using chemical extinguishers. But the blaze was too intense and they failed to put it off. The guards then alerted the local police. The Bang Pli Yai tambon administrative organization sent 20 fire engines to the spot. It took the firefighters about an hour to fully extinguish the fire. By then, the blaze had swept through the pile of paper packaging boxes and goods stored in the warehouse. Samsung reportedly stored electrical appliances such as washing machines and air conditioners, as well as other goods, at this location. Based on local reports, this fire damaged a large number of goods. The Korean company has yet to estimate the damage, though.
Samsung suffers another massive fire damage
This isn’t the first time Samsung has suffered fire damage at its facilities in recent years. In February 2017, the company’s battery-making affiliate Samsung SDI reported a “minor fire” at a plant in Tianjin, China. The incident occurred at a waste depository and did not cause much monetary damage to the South Korean conglomerate. But in May 2020, Samsung had to temporarily shut down a production line at its display manufacturing facility in Asan, South Korea due to a fire. It followed a fire at an automated wastewater treatment deodorizer facility in the company’s chip manufacturing plant in Hwaseong, South Korea in February. Samsung has also suffered damages due to power outages at its factories. A minute-long electricity blackout in the same chip complex in Hwaseong caused a production disruption in January 2020. The company suffered millions in damages due to it. In February 2021, a statewide power outage in Texas, US forced Samsung to halt semiconductor production at its Austin facility for over a month. The company reported damages of more than $270 million due to the issue. Other companies were also affected by these statewide electricity and water outages.
