Fans of the series have been asking for this time period for probably the better part of a decade. And it seems Ubisoft is finally giving in (or listening) to its fanbase. It also comes at an interesting time now that Sucker Punch Productions’ wildly popular Ghost Of Tsushima has been met with resounding success since its 2020 release. Codename Red also wasn’t the only new Assassin’s Creed game announced. Ubisoft has four other games for the series currently in development. One of which will launch next year. Beyond Mirage, Ubisoft also announced Codename Hexe. As well as an upcoming open-world mobile title called Codename Jade set in China. A mobile partnership release with Netflix is in the works as well. It will also be releasing the last DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sometime this year. Both Codename Red and Codename Jade will also be a part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, an Assassin’s Creed hub which is believed to link the mainline titles.
Assassin’s Creed will head to Japan in the next major title after Mirage
Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be the next major title in the mainline series following Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Mirage will be releasing sometime in 2023, which means Codename Red is probably still a couple of years out. Although Ubisoft hasn’t announced an official release date, fans shouldn’t count it being soon. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla released in 2020 and is getting its final piece of content this year. Aptly named The Last Chapter. An upcoming free DLC the studio will be releasing to wrap up the game’s story. That probably means Mirage will get content for at least two years before another new release. So if we had to guess, Codename Red would come out sometime in 2025.
