In an interview with Le Devoir, Jade Raymond and Haven Studios Co-Founder Pierre-François Sapinski discuss the team’s first project. As well as the expansion of the studio team and their plans to work with PS5 architect Mark Cerny. In regards to the project, no official title for the game has been made public yet. However, new details about it begin to lay the groundwork for what players can expect. Haven is planning a scalable and persistent online environment that can evolve with the players over time. It will also be available on both the PS5 console and on PC. Haven also looks at this game as social platform. Where players can continually meet up to play. This suggests there will be some level of social interaction beyond the actual gameplay.

Haven Studios staffs up for its first game

Making a game, especially an online game with an evolving development, requires many hands. So Haven has expanded its staff to help get things up to speed. Ever since announcing the creation of the studio last March, Haven has gained three times the amount of employees. It also plans to continue hiring more staff throughout 2022. For perspective, Haven started with Jade Raymond, five Co-Founders, and around 20 former Stadia employees. So there should be around 78 employees give or take.

Creating games of the best quality

In addition to staffing up, Raymond says that the studio is also looking to collaborate with PS5 designer Mark Cerny. By sharing expertise with each other, the studio can work towards harnessing the power of the PS5 hardware. And in turn, make the best quality games possible to take advantage of it. Raymond states that Haven’s ambition “will be to push the console’s technical abilities further. We will have the opportunity to work with people at Sony who are among the best in the world in their field. This will allow us to create games of the best quality.”
