Samsung has upped its update game substantially over the past couple of years. Gone are the day when you’d need to wait months for the latest update from the company. Now, the Korean company is delivering its updates faster than the company that actually develops Android.
Case and point, the two-year-old Galaxy Note 20 is getting the latest update before Pixel phones
The Galaxy Note 20 was the last of the main Note devices. This phone passed its stylus down to the S line of phones, and it seems to be doing well for it. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra is a Note in every aspect except for its name, it’s still a shame to see the Note line die out. However, according to SamMobile, the Note is not dead yet, as the last Note has just gotten the latest Android security patch. This patch has the firmware version N98xFXXS5FVI4 (N98xBXXS5FVI4 for the 5G model), and it’s for both the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. This update is live for people in Albania, Germany, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine, Southeast Europe, Kazakhstan, the Baltic region, the Netherlands, and Uzbekistan. In terms of vulnerability fixes, this update is pretty light. The update fixes just over 40 security vulnerabilities, and 18 of them are specific to Galaxy phones. The remaining fixes are for bugs that exist in Android as a platform. If you’re in one of the aforementioned countries, then you should expect to see the OTA sometime soon. If you want to manually check for the update, you can go to your settings, find the Software Update settings page and tap on the Download & Install button. Your phone will search for the update. If it says that your phone is up-to-date, then you might want to wait a little while for it.
