The March 2022 security patch brings the usual updates to the Galaxy S10
Right now, according to SamMobile, this March security patch has only landed for the carrier-unlocked version of the Galaxy S10 (version G97xU1UES6HVD1). It hasn’t dropped for the carrier-locked version of the phone, so you’ll need to keep an eye out for that one. The March security patch brings fixes for 50 vulnerabilities in the software for the phone. Not only that but there are your typical bug fixes and stability improvements. While these bugs and stability issues might not have been felt by the user, they’re still nice to have. It is a bit disappointing that Samsung is pushing last month’s update. The company just recently released the April 2022 security patch for its Galaxy S22 phones and its latest Galaxy foldables (European models, though). With that update, those phones got 88 vulnerability fixes along with bug fixes and stability patches.
Is the Galaxy S10 still a good phone to buy in 2022?
The Galaxy S10 was released a while back. To put it into perspective, it launched a year before Covid-19 came and rearranged the entire world’s schedule. While it’s a few years old, you should still be good for most day-to-day tasks and gaming. Also, the display will still look gorgeous in 2022. The regular variant still has the 1440p+ resolution. What about software support? The Galaxy S9 just got its end-of-life update, which means that the Galaxy S10 might receive its death certificate next year. Now, it won’t get hacked the second it gets its last update, so you can use it for a good while if you want. Honestly, you should be okay to buy one if you just need a phone with a great display and Samsung’s software that you don’t plan on using for too long. You can probably find a used Galaxy S10 for between $350 and $500 if you look around. While that’s not a bad price range, you will be able to find a Galaxy S20 FE for close to the same price with a newer processor and newer software.
