There’s no microSD card expansion for the Galaxy S22 phones

Samsung has long been the antithesis of Apple until it wasn’t. While Apple failed to offer microSD card support for its devices, we could always count on Samsung to offer it. That changed last year with the introduction of the Galaxy S21 series. These phones came sans microSD card expansion and people didn’t particularly like that (even though it sold pretty well). Those who were holding out to see if Samsung was going to add this feature to the Galaxy S22 phones are going to be disappointed. There is no microSD card expansion on the Galaxy S22 phones. The onboard storage options should suffice for most people, as 256GB is nothing to sneeze at. That’s the highest storage option for the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, on the other hand, tops out at 1TB of storage.

Not all new Galaxy devices are skipping microSD card expansion

Samsung didn’t only announce the Galaxy S22 phone today, it also announced the Galaxy Tab S8 line of tablets. Much like the Galaxy S22 phones, there are 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions of the tablets. These, however, do retain the removable storage option. That’s great because these are more targeted toward business professionals and artists. These are people who are more likely to need removable storage. The Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S8+ both cap out at 256GB of storage and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra caps out at 512GB. All three variants can have up to 1TB of additional storage, which is enough for the mass majority of people.
