The end result is a custom PS5 that now looks like a dwarven kingdom. And the entire build was done while keeping the ports and disc tray intact and accessible. As far as custom PS5 consoles go, this is so far the wildest one we’ve seen. Though certainly not the only one. Another YouTube content creator, DIY Perks, has made three that we know of. A slim version, a brass version with virtually no other changes, and a stealthier retro looking console that doesn’t actually look like a PS5 at all. This Nerdforge build takes things to a whole other level though. But, not uncharacteristic since they also completed an even crazier build for their Xbox Series X.

The custom PS5 design accounts for thermals

The first thing you might wonder about when looking at this project is how it might impact the thermals. That’s a lot of extra stuff on the outside, after all. And it looks like the lava flow may block the air intakes. But on the contrary, Nerdforge planned for this ahead of time. And room for the air intakes was built into the final result on both sides of the lava flow. So the console still runs smoothly and the air intakes can perform their job unimpeded. While custom consoles like this may not be for everyone, and that’s totally fine, it’ still cool to see what kinds of ideas people can come up with. Even if you prefer your own to look as it was intended. If you’d like to watch the entire build process, you can check it out in Nerdforge’s video above.
