If you hit it big on Twitter, then you’re bound to be followed by a myriad of different people. There will be times that you want to tweet out, but you don’t want everyone to see what you’re tweeting. Maybe you’re a popular creator, but you want to tweet to only certain people for their feedback without a flood of fans commenting.
Whatever the reason, Twitter is testing its Circle feature
Twitter announced this new feature on its own platform. In a tweet, the company explained that there are tweets that just aren’t meant for everyone. Thus, it’s introducing Twitter Circle. Your circle is a tight-knit group of people who you want to share tweets with. When you tweet, only they will see it. When you create a circle, you’ll choose a selection of up to 150 accounts to add to it. When you get ready to tweet, you’ll have the option to share with everyone or share with that circle. The company included a 35-second video showcasing the feature, and it’s pretty straightforward. When you get the feature, you’ll see a popup appear when you press the “add tweet” button. It’ll ask you if you want to make your circle. Hitting yes will bring you to a list of your followers. Simply tap the accounts that you want to add to the circle. After you do that, you’ll be able to start sending your private tweets. From then on, at least for the mobile version, you’ll see who you’re tweeting to via a small dropdown menu right next to your profile picture. From there, you’ll be able to select whether you want to tweet to everyone or your circle. Twitter is testing this feature out right now, and it said that even some average users are able to create a circle starting today. For the rest of us, we’ll have to wait for a wide rollout.
